Default Standard Potenza RE070 life?

Hi, ive been looking to find out how long you should expect the Potenza RE070 tyres should last on a WRX Sti? I know there the standard tyre on the car from new so what is there lifetime expectancy?

Driven hard on track days only =

Hard road driving =

Light road driving =

Anyone who can help would be much appreciated.

The wear on these tyres is pretty good in my experience.
This is more so with track use, where it is easy to completely root normal tyres as they get out of their comfort (heat) range pretty quick on a track.
On the other hand, these tyres a not great when it gets cold and greasy.
They work better with correct alignment and tend to tramline all over the place when getting low on tread, so two hands on the wheel for the last couple of thousand miles is my advice

there should be numbers and letters on the side wall showing treadwear , traction and temperure, it will give you an idea.

Track day - ive done a set in a day of hard prolonged use.
Road use - ive had a set for 12000 miles of normal commuting.

Take your pick on how hard you drive and how long they will last.....but in my experience they are very good with even wear across the tread when camber and allignment set up correctly.

My last set did around 10k road miles, a dry trackday at Bedford and 2 damp days at Cadwell.

They are an excellent track tyre once you get some heat in them but they are a bit bumpy on the back roads and lethal if you come across any standing water!

Iv done 20000 miles with mine (normal driving) and still going, I must agree with some of the above comments regarding tram-lining as thats what mine are doing now!

Do you think changing from the REO70's would soften the ride a bit as I find mine way to harsh

In my experience - Yes and that is because of the relatively stiff side walls on these tyres.

Go for it.
I use 070s in the summer/trackdays and Goodyear Assymetrics in the winter, although these are a "summer" tyre as well.
There are loads of old threads on here about tyres.
Most people recommend whatever they use of course
