Default 2002 Sti rear 2 pots, WMS Warranty

Hi folks ,

I recently had the miss fortune of watching my bleed nipple sheer off in the caliper whilst attempting a brake bleed.

My poor car is in the hands of a reputable tuner/workshop, after this mishap.

The recommendation was to have the caliper sent off for refurb to have this work carried out .. Another very well liked and knowledgeable scooby tuner/engineer in the Uxbridge area recommended this action.

It transpires that the offside Brembo caliper had sheering from the age old ali with steel bolt fatigue. Both calpiers are now being sent off for at a wicked cost of £300 on repalcement.

Now, ... I bought my Sti with a WMS warranty ... 4 Diamiond rating. Which appears to cover Brake calipers ( excluding seizure) I would say this wasn't a seizure ( standing in a garden for 2 years) but an routine maintenance in which the component was faulty.

Have any of you suffered this and have you claimed..

power engineering by any chance?

If it was mine i would have just drilled out the bleed nipple and run a tap through it if necessary. Or an extractor may do the job. sod paying £300!!

It would seem that Brembos aren't all they are cracked up to be, then? LOADS of threads on here about pad retaining pins, and bleed nipples causing trouble.

Something to do with different metals?

Bleed nipple issues are usually people over-tightening them after bleeding them.

The bolts that hold them on the hub snapping , maybe over tightening issues as they have a very high torque figure from the dealers , too tight in my opinion , we have also seen poorly made bolts which damage the threads in the calipers when they are originally fitted in the factory

If a bleed nipple is seized, why not get those banjo bolts with built in nipples ?

(until a pro can repair the original bleed nipple etc,if your in a rush to bleed etc)

After reading threads similar to this I actually thought my calipers had found their way to you.

The company offering the service to the garage i took my car too offered a 48 hr turn around .. I've been without my car since Tuesday.. I'm ****ing furious to be without my car and now having to see what happens next week... Ian if I had know of your services i would have paid £250 in addition to collect ad return in 24hrs.

We live and learn.. the bloody hard way sometimes
