What's the criteria? Dry grip, wet grip, price?

I have found Falken FK452s to be a really good compromise between price and all round grip. They are as good as the yokohamas, toyos etc.. I have had fitted on my other scoobs. Big brands are not always best.

The falken's are not a patch on some of the big name tyres, the Vredstein Sessanta's eat them for breakfast, and they are not much more expensive
If you think toyo's are top end tyres then you have never had a decent tyre on your car

I could say the same about the Sessanta, check out how (badly) they've done in the group tests this year:

Vredestein Ultrac Sessantas for me. On my second set now. Got 235/40/18s from a Ebay shop for less than £100 each 2 weeks ago

T1R's on a classic feel fantastic IMHO, Sessantas are awesome on my newage.

Tyre tests are all very well but at the end of the day nothing beats trying them yourself. People rate things from different expectations which aren't necessarily going to be the same as yours.

Only 1 review for Sessantas fitted to an Impreza and that was positive . How they compare on other marques is irrelevant.

Getting back to the original post...Goodyear Assymetrics and Vredestein Sessantas are well regarded and are particularly suited to the Impreza as are Bridgestone RE070 . Others to consider are the Yokohama Parada Spec 2 and Michelin Pilot

Am liking my RS-R's. Good grip in damp and dry, with 360bhp and the RA diff set to open (2/3rds of power going to the rear). They last 15mins round Cadwell before going 'off', nearly keeping up with a pal on 888's. Ok in the wet, but these sort of tyres are never going to be the best in standing water.

Never liked 18s on a classic. I run 215/40-17 RS-R's on the road and track, and have a set of 225/40-17 Bridgestone 070's for the track.

Your calling that bad?

Here, look at some of the scoob owners "favourites" and see how well the sessanta's actually do against them

No James but i did have F1 assys on the Spec C and they were crap compared to the sessantas.I now have the conti 5P on the RS6 and although the car is much heavier than the Spec C it feels grippier than the Spec C did. Also the latest tyre reviews put them on top but they are a top branded tyre rather than the mid range Vreds

The Conti 5P is not yet available in sizes that will fit most Imprezas

I saw Conti today, the 5P sizes will sadly be OE driven, but next year they will be launching the non "P" version of the Sport contact 3, so available in more sizes.

Expect it to do very well in tests.

Hankook Ventus Sports, the best tyre out there bar none.

Ask Skullfudge about them after I convinced him and his sceptism to give them ago on his 550bhp P1 last year. I think he's buying another set soon

I could be more technical but the proof is in the pudding

You're going to have to be a bit more specific than that, Hankook make a lot of tyres, unless you mean the K104 but then I don't believe you :P

I had the K104s on mine (450bhp at the time) and they were superb, the next generation ventus sport are even better.

I believe Fudge has the V12 Evo on his.

My next set of wheels will have these on

Do they not make the S1 EVO in your sizes? That's the flagship Hankook tyre at the moment and one I really want to try.

V12 Evo is more suited to the impreza and the one I recommended to Fudge.
