Did the following for my Godspeed discs front & rear and Ferrodo DS2500 pads:-
Normal driving for about 300miles, or until the surface machine marks are gone.
Then from speeds of 60mph, brake hard down to 0, but not locking up (if no asb).
Do this 6 times, was also told that if you getting smoke of the pads thats good, means they are working i.e. bedding in propley.
If its just discs you have that are new then I'd say drive normal for 300miles until machining marks are gone, not sure if they'll need heat cycles put through them, doubt it probley only for new pads.

Pagid website gives clear advice for their pads (other makers differ):

BUT if you have new discs that have not been heat cycled then you need to be gentle for a bit to relieve stresses in the disc that may lead to distortion. PF discs are pre heat treated so not subject to this constraint and is one reason why they are well regarded.

I wouldn't have thought you would have damaged a second hand set , they only need bedding in when they are new , if you go too hard to quickly on them you could end up cracking them.
