Default not impressed at al

hi guys an girls. fitted some ferodo ds3000 pads other week to rear of the single piston calipers on my facelift. tried to wash me gold wheels an not impressed with the dust that came off. it stuck in the wheels an now stained them an cant get it out. i bought a new set of mintex rear pads before these but decided to fit these as i heard good things about ferodo. i dont track day it and im a calm driver. what are mitex pads like for brake dust. is it worth replacing as these are gonna make my wheels black not gold. thanks people

im told yes the 3000's are dusty. And they are a much more track focus pad. I got 2500's on the rear and the dust is ok.

DS3000 is a track pad, and comes with a fair amount of dust.

not ideal for those wanting to keep thier rims clean!

I suggest either changing the pads, or some serious elbow grease to clean the wheels (once a week!)

^^^ as above, change to a less track focused pad or get yourself a decent wheel cleaner such as Meguiars Wheel Brightener. I use this and it shifts baked on cack and everything.

Mintex:
M1144 are the softer, similar to OEM pad.
M1155 are the harder compound pad.

Speak to someone who knows about brakes. Stuff on Ebay is often cheap for a reason. Did you not realise the DS3000 is a track focused pad before you spent your 99p?

Yes DS3000's are good , very good , its my own pad choice in my rally car , but not really suitable for a road car unless you do a lot of track days , some of the dust you mention will actually be disc material as the discs are very aggresive
Cheers Ian

yep mate i thought that. wont come out of wheel but got a spare set. just checked the mintex pads i bought ages ago an never fitted. the code is mdb1999. thats on back of pad. these good or bad or worth fitting instead of ds3000 to reduce brake dust

Prodrive were going to use the DS3000 on the P1 with the WR pack, they ended up using the DS2500's as the 3000 ate through the paint (well damaged it anyway )
Just a little warning

DS3000's should come with a subaru parts health warning.. they will eat discs also... especially the AP variety
