Default Correct tyre size 17" wheels classic

As title really
I've been told on one thread (cheers Richiewong)that it's either
1: 215/40/17
or
2: 205/45/17

my tyres at the mo are 215/45/17 which i've been told are alright if these aren't correct i guess they will affect the speedo reading,if so by how much?

The "official" correct size is 205/45/17, most use 215/40/17 as they are more widely available though 215/45/17 will put your speedo out by quite a margin on a classic and are not recommended to use.

Default Tyre size calculator

Have a look here: Tire size calculator

Shows what effect different sizes have on the rolling radius, and on speed.

I'd use either 215/40/17 or 215/45/17 - your speedo won't be 'out' too much - it probably reads low anyway, so this may actually make it more accurate!

Mine reads low, Im on 215/40 17 on a classic, one of those "your speed is" machines on the side of the road read me at 34 when the speedo said 40. Ditto the satnav.
