Inovit Redlines 18"
Dear All,
I am on the verge of buying a set of these in either Gun Metal or Gold for my WRX Hawkeye. As it is a commuter car, I am not massively bothered about light weight and huge strength. But I would rather not be putting tat on the car either. If you have them can you tell me what you think of them.
After finding out how heavy the standard WRX Wheels were, 21.0lb/corner, I can't believe that they could be heavier.
Also as I am on a budget I was just going to get the standard tyres (unbranded who know whats) till I can save up for some potenzas.
Alternatively I have seen a set of original STi wheels from an 03 Blob, that would fit, and I could jsut about afford to stick some Toyos on.....

I'd also be very wary of budget tyres on my car.
I'd have a look for second hand 18'' with branded tyres with good tread left. I got some 18'' Rota GRAs (almost as common as PFFs now though) with good, like new tyres for less than what you're looking at.

Budget tyres are crap, if you are buying new, spend some extra money, maybe £100 more to get reasonable tyres. I know. I have inovit redlines on mine with event tyre. They are ok in the dry, hopless in the wet. Lots of understeer followed by fishtailing.

Go for second hand, but Good Tyres like Bridgestone Potenza RE050A, Michelin Pilot Sport 2 etc. All the Budget tyres are crap.
As for the wheels, I would go for original wheels (Prodrive or else), however, I am an idiot, because I like original stuff.
Do not buy anything new IMHO, because you can find good deals on 2nd hand items, just be patient.
Cheers,
R.

I have gold Redlines shod in Vredestein Ultrac Sessantas - see my garage for some photos. Found the Vreddies easily outshine Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3's in wet and dry in terms of grip and ride comfort. Asymmetrics are supposed to be better but in general I've heard they wear poorly and quickly and are about £20 or £30 more a corner - just isn't worth it.
Vredestins are not ridiculously expensive mate - tbh if you put budget tyres on a Scoob I wouldn't go any cheaper than Falkens - anything else will just put you at risk once you get some speed up. Bear in mind it's the only thing keeping you in contact with the road so hence the one area you shouldn't skimp on!
I do wonder if I should have gone for gunmetal, but tbh I see far more Scoobs with gunmetal alloys than gold, and given that together with the fact that gold is the more classic combination with WR blue I went for those. Can't say I'm sorry, although they do show brake dust - reminds you to clean em regularly I guess
Bought my wheels for £400 delivered from Scoobyclinic. They're direct Subaru fit too so they don't require spigot rings or spacers.

What is the weight difference between the genuine Prodrives and the Inovits?
I'm guessing nothing?
I'm in the same boat as the OP and considering a used set refinished

I assume you've dismissed the Redlines in the for sale section?
I remember 2 or 3 years ago there was a thread on here about PFF7 copies that were suffering cracks. Can't remember if they were the redlines, though.

I like my redlines, they look good and the finish is decent too, although managed to kerb 2 of them in less than a year! They were also noticable lighter than my previous 18" alloys when I switched.

They are on
Hi everyone,
It is done, I went for the Inovit Redlines, I am wating for Event Tyres to turn up with a set of F1 GSD3's as the Toyos they came with were more worn than I was comfortable with considering the weather is on the turn. I will post some photos when I can.
Again thank you for your input.
