gearchange over-rev!
anyone have a clue as to what causes my bug-eye to hold its revs for a split second when changing gear.is this normal?its best described as if im holding the throttle on while changing down or up the revs will stay where they were and in some instances they will rise by 1-200 revolutions.it manly happens after some spirited driving.also,is there any point to me fitting a fse fuel regulator i have in my garage from my legacy.its fully adjustable and like new.shame to have it sitting there doing nothing.worth fitting or not?thanks everyone.

Check to see if the throttle cable is sticking, after that it's possibly the TPS, (Throttle position sensor) which will show up on an ecu diagnostic check (?).
Regulator is optional if the car is standard. IMHO

My Focus runabout does this as well, my ford expert tells me this is normal. To reduce emissions the ECU holds the idle bypass (tickover) valve open momentarily to put more air through the engine when main throttle is snapped shut preventing rich mixture and CO/HC emissions, yes its a pain, blame the EU (not the ECU). My remapped Blob STi doesn't do this as a result of the remapping, a pleasure after the Focus.
