I have noticed over the last month or so that the gearchange on on my MY00 turbo has changed, now i am finding it difficult to find reverse and changing up or down is no way as near as good as it was when new.
I asked my dealer to check it out on its 12 month service but he said that there was nothing wrong with it and it was normal, but it is now starting to get on my nerves and seriously denting the enjoyment of my car. As it is a 150 mile round trip to the dealer i want to go to him with some idea what it could be or to check it out myself.
Any advice will be greatly apperciated
Thanks in advance

sounds very similar to a prob tht i had with one . the owner complained that it was very notchy in and out of all gears and reverse took a couple of goes to get in. when i took it apart all the synchros had a fair amount of play and were actually going in to gear slightly twisted over on the shaft. we put in for a new gearbox and did get one on warranty and the customer is now very happy

I find 1st & reverse difficult especially from cold and the gearbox generally notchy into gears.
Could this be the same problem? I'm new into Scooby's (3 months) & have a MY99 and was putting the gear change down as "one of those things". Now having read your thread I'm wondering if a trip to the dealer waving my warranty at them might be a better idea???

hi
i've got a MY99 turbo and have the same problem with reverse, it may take a couple of attempts to get it into reverse.
Mainly on the 2nd attempt it will go in.
I think i will be seeing the dealer before the warrenty runs out.

Yeah, used to be difficult to engage reverse in my old '00. Either let the clutch out and engage first or forth, then slot it home in reverse without letting the clutch out.
Seems to work well if this is done.
Prob something with the reverse syncromesh.
I didn't think much of it, as long as gears 1 thru 5 slot home fine, I won't grumble.

if the clutch biting point is close to the floor or is moving in that direction it could be that the clutch is not fully disengageing.there have been some posts regarding the need to bleed the clutch hydraulics so this may be a factor.
