Track day whels and tyres

Having worn 4mm off the tyres in 150 track miles on Saturday, I've decided it would be better to have a set of wheels and tyres just for track days.
Any ideas as to where's the best place to get an inexpensive set of wheels? And how about some semi-slick tyres? What size should I run? I normally have 225/45 17, but haven't found any semi-slicks that size (plus they seem to have all sorts of wierd sizes).
