Default Brake Master Cylinder Sizes????

Hello

Does anyone know the bore size of a classic Impreza master cylinder, it's actually on a type ra ver2 (no abs) if that makes any difference??

Also do later cars equipped with Brembo 4 pots have a larger master cylinder and does anyone know what size this is and if it can be fitted to a classic?

I've done several searches for this info and can find bits and pieces on caliper piston size but nothing on master cylinders (any links to anymore caliper piston size would be great if anyone knows the piston size of late model sti brembo 4 & 2 pots)

Thanks

Steve

Yes its 1" bore

Yes they do have a larger cylinder 1" 1/16". It bolts straight on a piece of cake.

I found the same when researching, in the end i took a gamble and bought a V7/8 STI master cylinder £20 btw. The difference is fantatsic night and day different, in a good way. Now i dont know if later classics with 4 pots have the bigger one too?

Thanks

So converting to metric that's a 25.4mm (1") now and later use a 26.98mm (1"1/16).

An extra 1/16" does not seem like much though.

Currently running scooby 4 pots with good pedal feel and travel but lacking a bit in braking power, currently running ebc yellows front and rear (still std single piston on rear). No real fade problems, could just do with a bit more leverage so was thinking of getting some bigger calipers and discs on the front either aftermarket or oem from another model, but obviously don't want the pedal to sink to the floor!

Was just dusting off my maths....

Std 1" is by my (pi x d x d)/4 has area of 506.77mm2

Later 1"1/16" has area of 572.09mm2

Which is an increase in area of 12.89%.

Don't suppose you also happen to have the piston sizes of the brembo 4 pots fitted to the V7/8 STI's too????

I've found a measurement of 39.5mm on here for the diameter of the pistons on the standard scooby 4 pots although I've not been out and measured yet.

Also wondering if you have the diameters of the pistons on the rear brakes, single and 2 piston too, then I'll work out everything properley.

Sorry not measured them as yet, but its a given that they all match if you use all gold brembo front and rear.

I decided not to bother as the std ones work fine for me on track.

Im interested to know the bore sizes on the brembos to. Want to see the maths behind the locking rear issue if i went for a brembo upgrade.

Nice to see it compared to the scooby 4 pots as thats what id be upgrading from. Would prefer to just change the fronts to keep the costs down.

Im running a set of Scoobyclinic 6 Pots on 330mm discs on a 98 v5 Type R.
Would it make a difference to my set up to change for a larger cylinder or would it be creating problems??

Do you suffer a heavy pedal ?
The extra volume of fluid moved by the New-Age cylinder will reduce travel and effort at the pedal.

Yeah I think I probably do suffer a bit, takes a fair bit of effort to get em biting hard.
