advise on brake upgrades on an 03wrx
hi all, have not long had new standard disks and pads fitted, now when i drive anywhere theres a rumbling happening when i brake after time, its standard 4 pots on the front and loosing faith in them and still have the original 17" subaru alloys, only had car 3 months and unsure of options.took it to garage who done the disks and they could not find anything wrong and said i may have cooked the pads or have a faulty caliper.can anyone advise me in upgrading if they have been here before?

Standard brakes are more than adequate, especially if you use better than OE pads (Performance Friction, Mintex, Ferodo etc) and fit braided lines using DOT 5.1 fluid. The best advice would be to get a trusted second opinion as it may be the wheel bearing or a caliper sticking as stated above. Once it's sorted the best advice I can give is to spend money on driving tuition in Roadcraft driving, which when applied will almost completely negate the need for you to use your brakes and increase safety whilst making your driving possibly significantly faster. After I learned it my pads lasted me over 30k instead of 10k max. In fact, when I sold the car the 30k pads probably still had another 10k life on them.

Ask for advice in the regional section (Scotland) ?
As for Corradoboy, he has a thing about driver training....
That's no help if you have a faulty caliper

To up-grade, as advised try Godspeed, for more money, the STI Brembos are superb, but your wheels may not clear them, so the costs keep rising....
Ferodo DS2500 or Performance Friction pads may help if your discs are o.k
