Horizontal scores on tyres..?

Horizontal scores on tyres..?
Often wondered this one, what causes straight scores/scratches across the tread of the tyre, perpendicular to sidewall..?
Obviously it's after a 'spirited'
drive down the lanes, but what I don't understand is why they're not 'curved', as you'd expect if the tyre was 'sliding' whilst rotating IYSWIM..?
The only way I can think that you would get this is if the tyre slides sideways, without rotation, ie under braking/lockup..!
At no point has this happened, so how do they get there..?
All four corners BTW..

LMAO, I never really thought about that..
I assumed they were from a few trips down my local test ground, no wonder it didn't make sense..
