Default LOST ALL BRAKES!!

went to start the car today to drive it to garage for engine repairs...

and when i pressed the brake pedal it went flat to the floor.... so i checked the fluid level and it was below minimum....

the pedal goes right to the floor with no braking ability but with one last push of the pedal it starts to work (very slowly)

funny thing is the car hasnt been used much in last two months but i gave it a run on thursday and friday just gone, all was fine..

the brake discs/pads were changed about a yr ago and there still fine now...

a little baffled to how the fluid has suddenly dropped so low in the space of days....
a leak somewhere... but where & HOW..???

the garage are gonna have a butchers but im just curious now to how this has happened.... common fault on these???

car is a MY99 RB5

cheers

it could possibly be a leak in one of your brake pipes and as your brake reservoir is below minimum it does point that way or the system needs bled as there is air in the system or your servo is goosed im sure the garage will find the problem let us know what they find hope its an easy fix.

just really baffled me though how it suddenly lost so much fluid...

unless its been gooing down over time i just havent noticed...

hopefully its not some sort of malicious attack by a neighbour... or there will be some issues up my road...

Burst hose, or blown seal in the calipers, or loose bleed nipple/union. All of which results in pressure loss and the pedal going to the floor.

Every pump of the pedal causes the fluid to pumped out the system.

If you have a leaking pipe or caliper , you will see the fluid over the car and on the floor , if you cant see fluid anywhere it could be the master cylinder leaking fluid into the servo
Cheers Ian

Check your brake lines, connectors and bleed valves. There could be the possiblility of where to look for when there is a leak. Place your car in garage for two days still, without moving or driving the car. Check if there is any brake fluid on inner bottom of your alloy wheels. If there is brake fluid discovery, then you should get new calipers.
