Any specific brand you're after, what type of tire do you prefer ? Hard, uncompromised, track-focussed, good in wet, grippy but wear, nervous but last forever, how long is a piece of string ?

FWIW, Camskill are usually very good on price. Also try Black Circles and My Tyres. Motorsport Wheels will often match Camskill if you have a branch near you, and obviously they do fitting too.

The current top rated tires are Uniroyal Rainsport 2, Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta and Goodyear F1 Assymetrics, or maybe Parada Spec 2,. If you want to go more hardcore, look at RE070's, R888's, Dunlop DZ02G or A048's.

Camskill are great, Black Circles were cheaper when I looked yesterday at Toyos.

I have Vredestein Sessanta 18's which I really like. Not sure why I would change from these tbh.

That's a very good price - quite hard to turn down actually.

I've had these on for around 18 months now and reckon they're a good tyre.I've only done around 7k on them mind but they're really holding up well, still loads of tread left.

Grip in dry is very good and i've never had any 'moments' in the wet neither. A little dicey on greasy roads but then most are.

Parada prices are about right; they are pretty cheap to get hold of (despite the high RRP).

Not a bad tyre; wet grip could be better though.

You won't be disappointed with F1 asymmetrics. They're awesome in all conditions and wear rate is excellent.

I paid £100/corner fitted just over 12mths ago for 225/40 18's. IMHO they look good too, a bit like PS2's. they also come up wider than other tyres, my 225's look more like 235's..

The only thing to bear in mind is they do need some scrubbing in. Mine took about 500 miles before they lost their initial squidgyness..!

As with any tyre purchase, make sure you're getting fresh factory stock. The WoM is stamped on ALL tyres (ie 09/52).. The rubber deteriorates after sitting around for 6mths or more on a shelf..!

Local place in Birmingham. It was over 12mths ago so maybe they're dearer now..? Saying that, GY UK had very limited supplies at the time, so that shouldn't be the case now. Therefore more chance of a good deal..?

Phone a several local suppliers and get a price, they'll more than likely have to find out a price and not carry stock, but that's no bad thing as it ensures the tyres are fresh. Be prepared for some widely varied prices, some will be ridiculously expensive, but you might find someone local who'll sort you out. If you're after fitted and balanced make sure that's included in your quotes..

Avon ZZ3s or Paradas?

I've only ever used Avon ZZ3s, but I've noticed that Paradas are cheaper. Here's the writeup from Tyre Shopper.

Manufacturer:
Avon Tyres
(Cooper Tire and Rubber Company Europe Ltd)

Tyre:Avon ZZ3
Features:Ultra-high performance tyres for sport orientated cars.
  • Superb wet weather grip
  • Excellent dry roadholding
  • Very predictable on-the-limit handling characteristics
  • Gives you total confidence in driving your high performance car hard and fast
  • Rim flange protector to guard your expensive alloy wheels against kerbing damage
  • Wide range of fitments for most performance cars
  • Speed Index: ZR
  • Available Series: 30, 35, 40, 45, 50, 55, 60

Manufacturer:Yokohama
Tyre:Parada

Features:
  • Yokohama’s Parada defines tuner-performance standards by exceeding expectations for performance and looks. Parada raises the bar on the premium performance offering for street tuners.
  • Parada spec’s ultra low void shoulder enhances vehicle stability.
  • Innovative design
  • Reinforced sidewall construction
  • Enhamced steering response.
  • Available Speed Rating: VR, ZR, YR
  • Available Series: 30, 35, 40, 45, 50

I have some Prada spec 2 tyres and am changing from them as soon as I can. The volume of the tyre noise is phenomenally loud and the treadwear is odd as the trailing edge of the tyre wore faster than the front did on all 4 tyres and thats after a set of AST coilovers going on. This then put a very bad vibration in the steering and even worse when braking. One model of tyre I will be avoiding in future

Camskill are currently doing these for 85 a corner, and these tyres are very good indeed.
