Default Tarox disks / pads - opinions please..

Guys, the MY06 Sti I just acquired has had Tarox disks and pads fitted recently (just before I bought it)- the disks are 'sport japan multi drilled' and the pads are Tarox 'Rally Plus'.

Some of you may know that I'm a kind of enthusiastic driver, and the brake combo has stood up to road use, but I'm doing Ty Croes on the 23/8 and have a sneaking suspicion that they won't last long....

Whilst my intention is to fit AP's in the near future, I could do without having to do it before the august track day as I have loads of other stuff to pay for- and tractive will probs tax the plastic when I go in for mapping on the 6th.

Does anyone have any experience of these pads and / or disks?

I am after specific knowledge of these products- I'm well aware of what Tarox used to be like- but if you've used them please comment.

Thanks.

I have been using these pads for while now and found them very good. Only had fade once on a road rally but that was on the absolute limit. (glowing disc's) but on sprints they were fine. I am using black diamond discs tho.

I had a set of the sport Japs on my 03 STI with Ferrodo 2500 pads. They were fine on the road (even fairly hard driving) but cracked at Oulton Park after a days hard driving. Prior to that it was G force I think (came on the car), but these warped on the track.
I now have an AP conversion, and they have been fine. Although I did think I warped them the first time out at the track, but it ended up being a gaiter that split and threw some grease on the inside of the disk which was making it shudder.

The APs have been perfect, so I say go for them if you can. I will be at Ty Croes on the 23rd (Black blob eye, black windows, black wheels, red 6 pot APs, silver wheels if it rains) so might see you there!

Bren, would love to- my mate has them on his S14, and I believe you've just supplied a full set to Saint Racing for a project e30 that will take some major reigning in! Reports from both parties are excellent

If I decide to keep it I will probs go for Ksport all round - you do them for the newer STi offset?

In the mean time, questmead have sent me some new compound pads to try.

JB1- will look forward to seeing you there (we're already on Anglesey- have been all month ). As well as the crystal grey STi we also have an STi5 Type RA, two RS4's, a Max5 race car and a quick s14 200SX (the car's quick... )

See you there!

Surprisingly the brakes held up... I came in before I got fade on the first few runs so i tempered the disks, and after that they were fine. Noisy, dusty, wouldn't buy them again, but they did the job.
