Tyre advice..please help
Hi all......
Having recently found out that the tyres on my sti track project are competition use only I now have to change them to make the car legal to test on the roads....unfortunate as the grip was something to behold...anyway....
money being tight and all that..I have two options
1) Fit a set of Toyo t1-R...or GS-D3's which are both good ROAD tyres.....
2) Fit a budget road legal TRACK tyre Hankook etc.....
My questions are....
Which would provide the better grip on the odd road test and track day....
Does the compound in the track tyre make it generally last longer or shorter than a performance road tyre....
Which would you choose........
Road mileage very limited to be honest...these will go on a fully stripped, caged, fast, STi RA......
Any advice my friends...
thanks very much
Paul

Toyo R88's are soft enough to wear by looking at them.
Federal tyres will out-last the universe (probably !).
Track-biased tyres will generally be soft compound to generate grip, but some Dunlops are available as a hard compound, TBH I don't know if they would last as long as a road tyre.
225/45/17 R888's are about £124, Hankook's about £79 you are as wise as me !

tyres
well it depends on what you want out of your motor mainly track use or road use?? if mainly road i would go for the Goodyear gsd3 or assimetric, they will last very well and grip good. but if its track tyres you are after then yoko's are very good
