Default Off Set for Type R

Hi

I am looking at getting some new alloys for the Type R, but how would I know what the Off Set be???? Does this make sense? Obviously I am looking at wheels specifically for Subarus but even though the size and stud pattern are right, I've been told its all down to the Off Set?
How would I go about finding out what size alloys would have been on my car when it rolled off the production line? Its a Type R, with 4 pots. At the moment it has 18", 215/35.
Cheers

Lippy x

hia i know it sounds daft have you looked in the hand book?? anway the offset means in simple terms how much the wheel sticks out from the arch or into the arch(not to sound funny) because if its not right it would look daft and if they are to far out of the archs it becomes ilegal and you could get done by the police, also it might fail an mot, to get the proper offset you would be better ring an alloy wheel place who could tell you the offset.
from memory the standard size is a 16"wheel poss 215/45-16

Type R's have the same offset as just about all Subaru's of about ET53-55, PCD is 5x100

When I had mine I fitted 17 Speedline Turini's which had an offset of ET48 which cleared the calipers. Remember the off set maybe correct but it s the spoke design thats import in clearence.

OEM wheels are 205/50/16's
