Anyone else having problems with breaks first thing in the morning?

Serious loss of power for the first few brakings in the morning after being stood all night..... can cause heavy duty adrenaline rush at the first T-junction of the day !

Exclamation

Me too-P1 is in the dealers at the momnet so will see what they say. Not water on discs though-think it is the addative in salt on roads this year.

It definately is caused by some addative being used by certain councils in grit/salt this year, dealer tells me it is now known to be an issue by Subaru and is caused by some magnesium addative thats being added to the salt causing some reaction with the discs/pads causing magnesium chloride to be deposited on the discs which has the same characteristics as greese.

Isn't that just great....keep the roads clear but make your brakes fail !

Me too, I thought it was the pads and discs so I changed the lot for after market ones with a set of braided hoses. Then I read a thread about the road salt, I've had the new set up on the car for two weeks now and they haven't failed yet.

Do you get the sensation that the ABS has kicked in slightly??, I had this problem before christmas and it only happened at the end of the braking cycle. i.e 10mph-0mph, it the cleared up about two weeks ago, havent seen the gritters out recently, but it happened again after gritting had been done, only the once mind.
I'm as puzzled as u guys, never considered the gritters until now though.

Check the thread about the funky chemicals cocktail being used in the roads. Bloody frightening.

Sounds like what is being described...

Cleaned the car last Sunday and gave the brakes and arches a soaking with the hosepipe. Wife got in the car Monday morning, drove 20m down our hill approx 10mph, applied the brakes and nothing. Sailed on through the junction. This dosen't happen with our Polo. Why scoobies?
