Goodridge Hoses - Locating problem
Hi all,
Went to fit brake hoses today and there is a problem. (we started at rear left).
The large locating lug in the middle is too wide and also the slot where the locking tab fits into is way too wide also.
I have attached two pictures comparing the OEM brake hose vs the Goodridge Hose.
To fit properly the locating flats would need to be 17mm rather than 19mm and the tabs would at least need to be twice as thick.
I know it is 'only' the locating middle part of the hose but feel very uncomfotable with it just flapping around, it is brakes after all.
We had to take off and refit the OEM hose and re-bleed :-(
I notice the kit is for Turbo 2000 ABS, is this the correct one as my car is a Jap import RA with NO ABS (as it has DCCD).
Are there two kits for the GC8 models?
Anyway have a look at the two attached pictures and hope you can help/advise.

I emailed Goodridge about this very problem about 5 yrs ago.... got a silly response saying they use jugs that are 'nearly' right, as making specific ones would be too expensive..... seems flippin daft to me!!!!

I have done the same thing about a month ago. At first I used cable ties, before going to Snetterton for a track day. I got back and although they were all still intact - like you I thought that brakes are quite key and I dont want them flapping loose and rubbing on anything.
In the end I bought new clips from my local Subaru Parts place (Cheam Motors - in Ewell in Surrey) and fitted them, not perfect but the original ones that were a pain to get off had lost their grip a bit.
These are supposed to be OEM replacement - I have different suspension struts all round (AST) so I thought the problem was due to me NOT having original Subaru bits.

Hose Probs
Hi I had the same problem so in the end i filed 1mm off of each side of the fitting that goes through the suspension mount and it fits perfectly. luckily its stainless so its not going to rust. I was disapointed that Goodridge could sell a product that was not a perfect fit. but they do make some of the best hoses, and from previous experience with other brands and pre made hoses i will not trust anyone else at the moment.

Goodridge Hoses - Intended Solution
Yep, just had it confirmed, Goodridge hoses are an 'almost' perfect fit, and it is a very common problem
Other solutions included cable ties or just leaving it!
Intended Solution
1. File 1mm from each flat on the hose middle to take down from 19mm-->>17mm.
2. Use TWO new locating clips instead of the original one.
So if you are thinking of doing this, just be prepared for some extra work.
Regards.
