2003 wrx brakes
I have recently purchased a 2003 Wrx , I am not happy with the braking system as the pedal feels quite soft and also I feel the braking sysytem on the car does not match its performance.
If I fitted a set of Ferodo brake pads all round would that be much of an improvement or would I need to get new discs as well.

The OE discs are fine with Ferodo pads, but for better pedal feel fit some Goodridge stainless braided lines. Whilst your at it, change the fluid for DOT5.1. I had this set-up and it never let me down on road or track. If you learn Roadcraft driving techniques you can forget about braking anyway. My pads started lasting 3 times as long after I started using those skills

Thanks for reply Corrado.
Some good advice there ,I was talking to some one today who said they had fitted Mintex semi perforated discs with Mintex pads on there 04 WRX and they found they were a huge improvement.

I found 5 of the 8 pistons on my 01 model WRX were seized or corroded when I investigated a similar problem.
Refurbed the calipers with new seals and pistons and now have Pagid Blues along with some black diamond grooved and drilled discs. Performance is as it should be although the grooves do make them quite noisy under heavy braking.
It's worth whipping the pads out and checking if the pistons move freely before splashing out on new pads/discs.
I've also got the goodridge hoses all round which firms up the pedal a bit.
