Toyo Proxes T1-R...any good ?
I need to replace the F1 225/50 ZR17 tyres on the front wheels and wondered if the Toyo t1-R 225/50 ZR17 would be a good replacement ?
I have not used Toyo before, hence the question. The price at Mytyres £92.70 seems very good.
Thanks

Wife's running F1's on her wagon, and I've got T1R's on my spare wheels and they are really good as well, sticky in the dry and also very good in the wet, it was the T1s's that weren't very good in the wet, so be careful!!

OK , I'm convinced, Toyo's it is.
Just one further question as a result of searching, is the T1-R the same as a PXT1-R tyre or are they different beasts ?
Cheers and Thanks

i had t1-r's on my MY04 sti and quite frankly they were **** , lasted 3500 miles before the edges were melted on each corner and were attrocious in the wet. The slightest puddle they aquaplaned to the point that i wouldnt drive it, it was so bad i had a garage look at the suspension of the car because i couldnt believe how bad it was on new tyres. They said the tyres were completely 'beaded' and advised me not to get the same again.
got eagle f-1s on the car now and they are about 10times as good!

Superb in the wet, pretty durable too.
My local Subaru dealer recommended them due to their tough (91W rated) sidewalls.
Interesting to see how different opinions are !

Yes, I am convinced that they are OK.
So now it's a search to either buy/fit as a job lot or buy and fit separately, will have to do the maths !
Thanks again

I have got them on the astra. good tyre but i would say they take a while to get to full grip. it took a good 1-1.5K miles for the tyres to really start gripping. i've never had any problems with them in the wet either.
I have done 15K on the fronts and they are starting to get a little low now. done around 4K on the rears and they still have loads left

I've put Toyo's on my two previous Scoobs and been very impressed, lots of grip in both wet and dry conditions. My new car has the RE070's on and to me they seem terrible in comparisson, the grip is there but they seem to want to follow every line in the road. You have to be quite forceful with the steering wheel sometimes to prevent the car going its own way. Theres not a lot of life in them now and I'll be having the Toyo's again soon.

I went from the RE070 on 17s to T1Rs on 18s. Grip levels generally much better on the Bridgestones, ride much more comfortable on the Toyos. I just don't have the same confidence levels in the dry as I did with the RE070s.
I was hoping to get F1s which I had on my classic STi, but they don't do the right size - that was a great all-round tyre.
