sliders be free
Hi to all i am a newbie to this forum please be gentle ,,
I have a 95 wrx import with front twinpot calipers ,,,
N/S front caliper slider has seized top one ,how do you unseize this
sprayed wd into it soaked overnite no joy but the whole slider pin turns
when you move caliper up to get pads out
do you have to take whole caliper assembly off by undoing 17mm bolts and disconnecting fluid line to remove slider bolt on work bench ?
or is caliper scrap ,, pistons are fine

if your talking abouth what i think you are your on about the slide pins that go from the front on the caliper to the back holding the pads in place....
I had one seize on my 4 pot caliper.
after trying to squeeeze it out by use of a heavy duty G clamp on one side of the caliper and the other on the back of the pin and no joy i ordered a new pin from subaru, £6.00 bit of a rip off but i then metal hack sawed the center of the old pin out and used a punch and hammer from the inside of the caliper to pop it out, took 10 mins once i did that
hope this helps

Hi cahrlie
Thanks for advice but twin pot calipers use sliders on the caliper hub mount and they are not like fourpots ,,
i know what you mean but in this case it is a caliper floating bearing which is seized
and i am told that the caliper should pull off the top pin when you swing up caliper to gain access to the pads as these are held in the hub carrier not caliper itself
am i right in thinking that caliper should be easy to get off top pin???
