Default Disk change advise - urgent

Weather permitting I'm going to change the disks and pads this morning.

Can you tell me whether I need to clean the disk surface prior to fitting (emery cloth/ wet and dry)?

Also the caliper bolt torque (Brembo) and wheel nut torque.

Thanks

Howard

As for cleaning.. the disc should just be wiped with brake cleaner and a lint free cloth mate,

Bolt torques for the calipers is 68Nm i think

Wheel nuts are usually 80Nm.

Hope that helps

Thanks.

As soon as it stops raining I'll be out there.

According to Alyn and the 04 STi manual the torque for the Brembo caliper bolts is 114ft-lb. He considers this excessive and recommends 75ft-lb (102Nm). He says he uses this figure on grp N cars he prepares and hasn't had any problems. I use a bit of medium threadlok for peace of mind. The 68Nm above is for the Subaru OE caliper but should be 80Nm(59 ft-lb). Wheel nuts 65ft-lb (90Nm). Did a mates STi discs recently and found the caliper bolts very tight to get off - needed to use a 4lb club hammer and a ring spanner to dislodge.
