Default EBC greenstuff pads - opinions please!

IF someone was to fit these to 2pot calipers on a sport....
would they be better than OEM for day to day driving and the occasional
enthusiastic driving?

i have heard bad things but only regarding turbo's but cant find any opinions when fitted to a sport...

OK not as pokey as a turbo but still a biggish car. If I were going for EBC's it would be red stuff. Green stuff are OK on Caterhams and stuff like that but normal weight cars would want red stuff I'd think.

But are proper pads like M1144, DS2500 really that much more expensive?

hmm, thing is my mate has got red and says they're crap until they are warm - which can take a bit at normal breaking (road wear)

the pads are only £20 off another mate (brand new too!)

these M1144 and DS2500 - where from and how much?

thanks mate

I've got greenstuffs fitted to my 2.0 GL, they've been great to be honest, but I have upgraded to 4pots and discs at the rear

definately better than oem and for £20 it wouldn't hurt to try them

Redstuffs all the way

I run them on my daily driver and they DO NOT need to warm up

Hi,
I have green stuff pads on a 4 litre,2 tonne Range Rover running with ebc discs. It brakes better than my wagon with standard calipers and tarox (corsa?) pads.Much more feel and you are a lot more confident braking later.
As for only good in light cars ,2 tonne speaks for its self.I also think you can not fix sh*t brakes by putting good pads on i.e un matched for the car or there use....
hopes this helps.

My daily driver is a 2001 2door Impreza (non turbo)

I live in the Seattle area of the USA
we have some snow, cold temps and lots of rain fall - winter

I've not had any issues with these pads on a day to day basis

Features of the Reds over the Greens is:
less dust, less noise, better bite

they work perfectly for my needs

and thanks for the kind words about my site, etc

Last Impreza I saw with just Green Stuffs on the Front had serious brake bias issue during emergency cold/warmish braking, resulting in longer stopping distances - especially at lowish urban speeds (30-40mph).

Put simply, the rears brakes were doing more work than the fronts.

Fine when hot...but thats not very useful after a 10min stint at 40+mph without touching the brakes, where they'll be stone cold again.

Substituting back to OE specification pads solved the problem.

IIRC they have since changed the compounds, so if this has addrssed the issue with them I'm unable to say for sure, but seeing they advisertise "good bite when cold"...which is complete ball *****, so who knows.

FYi Model in question was a 1995 UK classic with 2pots, have also had issues on two '97 turbo models with redstuffs too.
