Question Wich tyres? at what size?

I'm buying some tyres for my UK MY99 for the first time so not shore what to get, I have a choice of Toyo TIR's at £105.50 each or GSD3 F1's for £106.62 each.

Three questions really, what's the best of the two tyres for my car?, I have 40's on at the mo, should I try some 45's(the guy said he fits more 45's than 40's to Scoobys? and what do you think to the price?(includes fitting).
I'm going to get the wheels re-aligned too been quoted £25-£130 depending on what needs doing.

Cheers for any help.

Reading some of your posts I think I'll go with the Toyo T1R's, what do you guys think of the price though? I thought they where quite expensive but after looking at some other post the price looks good.

I'd do the opposite and go with F1s in 40 profile - better tyre (apart from sidewall strength) which is not an issue in 40 profile. Go goodyear!

The F1's do seem to be the popular choice , cant remember the make I have on at the moment off hand, but I'm shore there some cheap crp, don't understand why people spend so much on parts and fuel but then put cheep tyres on, surely there's no point in the rest unless you have good contact with the road ....going off on one now lol..what I was going to say was the tyres I have now are 40's and the guy at Performance tyres seemed surprised they weren't 45's, it would partially explain the hard ride I have in my car....yeah! think I'll stick with 40, I like to feel the road under me ....isn't that what driving these is all about?!, classics anyway, had a drive in my brothers 05 before he had PPP and I couldnt feel anything new age cars are way too comfortable(me? generalise? never!).

Generally on a classic the sizes are 205/45/17 and more commonly 215/40/17.
Although 215/45/17's will fit these are newage size.

Regarding tyres, I love the F1's but there have been stories of the sidewalls splitting due to the load rating not being high enough.

Currently running 225/40/18 on my newage with Prodrive springs and you feel the lot

I have 215/35/18 T1-R on mine and they are really good. It was a toss between f1 and t1-r and after reading some stories about the f1 i opted for the toyo.

Going for the Toyo T1R's at 215/40/17 next Tuesday, got a quote for £102.60 each inc fitting, going to get the wheels re-aligned whilst I'm there too, the guy said that alignment for all four wheels could be between £25 and £130, hope its not 130, the wear on the tyres is quite even so I'm guessing they cant be too fare out?.

Hopefully you've not payed for the tyres yet, you can get
toyo proxes t1-r's from camskill.co.uk for £76 (for 4) inc. delivery.

Craig.
