Default Wheel/tyre combo

I'm having some larger brakes fitted to my car so my 16" wheels will no longer fit.
I'm after some 17" wheels but dont know whether to get 17x7 and 205/40's

or

17x 7.5 and 215/45

Both wheel tyre packages will cost the same, however, when re-buying tyres again the wider ones will be more expensive.

Rolling radius of wider tyre is about 1.5 cm more so car will be slightly higher off the ground too.

So is it worth it for an extra 10mm width? also, will it rub? ('97 classic)

Classic, then get 7x17 with 215/40/17's

They'll fit with no rubbing issues and are the most common size for classic 17's

I don't think they do 215/40's in the tyres i want, semi slicks either toyo or yoko's (probably toyo's)

Then I'd say 7x17 with 215/45/17's.

More rim protection that way from kerbs

Cheers, was just wondering about any impact on handling as the wider tyres will actually raise the car by 15mm too. Its mainly only for track use nowadays.
