Will my new wheel tyre combo rub?

Right,
Am changing my wheels and tyres.
going from 17 to 18 inch.
Have done my homework but have no idea how much leaway I have.
standard wheels are 45mm offset (might be 48, hope not), 8.5 inches wide and tyres are 235 section.
new wheels are 25mm offset, 8 inches wide and tyres are 225 section.
By my calculations and a funky corel draw session I am reckoning on the new tyres being just under 4.5mm closer to the arches than they used to be (on the outside rim based on standard offset being 45). On the inside they are now a whopping 15mm further away, which is good I suppose.
If this is the case it looks like I will be getting a 2cm wider track with the possibility of a 3cm wider track if the standard offset was indeed 48, which must surely be a good thing? APart from tramilining which has never been a problem so far.
So in essence I am just wondering if I can get away with 4.5>7.5 mm extra. Anyone hazard a guess?

Hi
I think the offset is 52mm for scoobys. will they rub or not I am not sure but a man I know who fitted 18x235 on 52mm offset did have a bit of tyre rub. will the offset you have chosen clear your brakes???

sorry, should have said it is a 22b, meaning I have bigger arches to play with. The offset definitely clears the brakes as pat already has the wheels in place. He has normal arches and has had them rolled so I dont know what will happen with mine. His seem to stick out of the arch even though the tyre doesnt rub.

Hi Adam. This will be some car, if it's ever finished...
Knowledge of 22Bs is a bit scarce, for obvious reasons. All I would say is that I think the only way to be 100% will be to try them.
The reason I say this is because of a feature in Revs mag recently where a load of tyres they measured all of supposedly identical spec were up to 9mm different in width. They were 205s, I think.
Good luck, m8.
Richard.
