Look at the caliper design, the four pots are hanging off a simple flange, no buttressing no strengthening lugs. Look at a caliper like one from AP eghere. Much thicker flanges and strengthening buttresses. Stand on the brakes with the K-sports and half the force from the pedal will be wasted splaying the caliper apart and the pedal will feel all spongy. Do the same with the AP and the stiffer caliper will transfer more force to the pads onto the disc, more braking, nicer pedal feel.

One has been designed to be cheap and easy to make, the other has been designed on CAD, optimised with FE, built, tested and proven in motorsport. Can you guess which is which?

Then they've added an extra pair of pots. Because it needs it or because they can hype it up in marketing?

Do Prodrive use them in rallying? Do K-Sport supply calipers to any F1 teams.

For the money they're asking for an 8 pot kit you'll no doubt get much better brakes from a 4 pot AP kit. But it won't impress so much down the cruisers car park on a Sunday. You choice.

I got my AP caliper kit from Godspeed , it uses their own discs as they come with a 12 month guarantee even using them for track days , and are much cheaper than the AP discs when they need replacing , been on for nearly a year and have been great

We are the distributers for K Sport. We did 23 trackday last year to test the 8 pots kits to see how they work.

The testing was done mainly in our 500bhp Skyline running a range of tyres from F1s to DZ02G track tyres to Dunlop slicks.

We tested at a wide range of tracks including Donnington, Oulton Park, Brands Hatch, Rockingham, SPA in Belgium and the Nurburgring.

After intensive testing I can state catagorically that the brakes work just fine. If theyll stop a 500bhp 1500 kilo Skyline on slicks with an experienced track driver behind the wheel then theyre certainly fit for purpose.

The UK Time Attack class winner this year was running K Sport 330mm 8 pots and inverted K Sport coilovers.

I have a set here that will fit the classic Impreza and Im happy to send them out for testing to someone who knows their way round a track and can give good and level headed feedback on their performance. Ill do one set at a very good price, if you like them keep them, if you dont then return them.

This is our main UK test car:

Have driven Apex's Skiline and i thought brakes were excelent, so good i have just bought 330 mm kit and DS2500 pads for my 2.5 classic. Will be giving them a proper test in a couple of months on next trip to the ring.

What pads does the K-sport use and how much are they?

Personally I have AP's with 355mm 6pots and they're amazing, they give some much confidence.

We do them with K Sport street pads for light fast road use or with DS2500s for more serious applications. Pads can be sourced from most big name suppliers so a wide range is available if you prefer Performance Friction etc. The 330s with K Sport pads are £855, £925 with DS2500, 356mm with K SPort £999, with DS2500 £1069. Thats a full kit so calipers, bells, brackets, rotors, lines, fluid and fitting kit.

I have experience of AP 6 pots with 343mm rotors. I ran them on our 400bhp S14 200SX and 500bhp S13 200SX.

As you can see they were very well used:

http://www.apexperformance.co.uk/cat...s/DSCF0016.JPG

Great brakes, they stopped the cars as youd expect. But then so do the K Sport at nearly 50% of the price.

"K-sport brakes or comp brakes??"

Im not sure what you mean?

The pistons arent stainless, this can cause issues with the alloy body. Theyre a plated alloy.

What do you want a close up of? Ill get pics for you if we dont have something suitable.

As the UK K Sport distributer I took it on my own back to ensure that upgrades and changes were implemented to the kits I sell. These changes do not necessarly run through the range through different distributers round the world. They were specfied by me for products that I sell for my customers. I asked for a number of changes whos benefits were only apparent after extensive testing. I dont know of any other distributer who has done anything like the development that I have so they wont know what I know meaning they dont know to specify the changes I have.

Dont for a minute assume that any other distributer nor brand will provide these upgrades as they come to me at a cost that Ive absorbed as I want the products to be bang right

i can vouch for what Bren does guys, I personnaly have spent a few KK's with Bren simply because he cares that his products actually do what they say on the tin. Ask anyone on the 200sx owners board and I doubt you will have any negative feedback. Chris (AKA Big Dave)

The Super Ts have loads of brake clearance so they should be absolutely fine.

Caliper 2.8kilo
330mm rotor and bell assembly 8.5 kilo
356mm rotor and bell assembly 8.75 kilo

The 330mm rotors run ticker walls than the 356mm to allow them to cope with the heat hence the minor weight difference.
