tyre size -prodrive wheels on classic

I have 215/40 17's on the standard prodrive wheels on my 97 classic . Can I fit a larger tyre with no fouling issues to protect the wheel more .???

I had 215/45/17 s on my classic with no poblems at all.

Iwas thinking of maybe 225/45 -17 for abit more width ??
