I can't beleive some people pay that sort of money for standard items when you can get cheaper uprated parts.

I've some magic beans here for sale for those interested.

Fair point, but IIRC, quite some years ago the EU made a decision that a manufacturer could not void your warranty if you used aftermarket service items / consumables e.g. air filters, oil filters, brake pads, clutches etc. These things are designed to wear out and need changing regularly therefore it is unfair to restrict you to using only top-dollar OEM parts. As long as the part you use is suitable for the car, your warranty is fine.

Something to remember (or check with your dealer) for next time. Obviously this doesn't extend to other parts that might unforseeably fail, e.g. switches, fixings, electrics, trim, plumbing etc.

Think about it another way - if your brake pads or clutch wore out during your warranty period, would Subaru replace them under warranty? They'd laugh you out of the door - service items aren't covered. And that's a two-way street. If they won't cover service items, they also can't void your warranty for going to the motor factors instead of the main dealer.

i opted for red stuff front and rear and they work great with the brembos. need to get em warm though, otherwise they are vague. i saved over £200 aswell!
graham goode of leicester sorted me out with pads and subaru only charged £40 to fit when doing full service.
