Best brakes for 00 plate impreza turbo
Hi, just wondered if anyone has any recommendations for front discs and pads for the 4 pots on my impreza? Want to keep the standard size and calipers, just not sure what to go for. cheers Ade

Had EBC Grooved Discs and red pads when I had a MY00 Turbo. You'll notice a big difference over the standard fade fast brakes. Cost wise I think the over cost about £250 - £300 but that was for front and back.

I had redstuff pads on mine and would never use them again, really bad when cold and not that great when hot and my disks cracked within a few weeks of having them, found the standards better.
Been told the pads to have are either Pagid Blues or Mintex F6 or Ferrodo DS2500.

I have a slightly bigger than standard set-up on my car, but i use Pagid rs42-1 pads on track.... i wouldn't advice them for the road, they are awesome, but they do leave deposits on the discs!!
If you're not wanting bigger brakes, i'd say go for standard discs, or standard size anyway, (ie, don't need to be 'Subaru') with something like the Ferodo DS2500 pads, front and rear!!

Depends alot on usage.
I've managed to warp Pagid and Tarox discs on track (extreme use). Also the Tarox had very square cut grooves which got easily filled with pad material (a pain to remove with 80 odd grooves!). Now am trying EBC which are OK so far.
As for pads, I've tried Mintex 1155 which were OK on road but didn't last long on track. I'm now on EBC yellow stuff which take slightly longer to warm but seem more robust so far.

I have Black Diamond drilled and grooved fronts with the EBC ceramic pads and whilst not great cold are pretty good when warmed up.
The pads are very hard though and have scored the discs in less than a year (apparently might be little stones getting stuck in there!).
Just (this morning) had the same fitted to the rear and i now have a horrible scraping noise which the garage says is them bedding in and rubbing of the "Paint finish". Is this likely to be correct?
