Question Tyre advice - not the usual...

Ok, this is the story:

I have a set of Falken Espia M&S tyres on a spare set of alloys that I bung on my 03 WRX for winter to keep the normal alloys and tyres away from the salt and looking nice .

Now, just the other day my scoob picked up a puncture and the driver of the car (not me!) didn't notice for a while so it got driven on for a little bit. I've had the opinions of two tyre places and both said that the sidewall has been weakened and damaged and that repair is not an option.

As the Falken tyres are a Jap only thing and can't be obtained here in good old Blighty and I can't find any for sale, I can't keep my tyres the same all round

So....

1) Can I mix and match safely..? Say, two Falkens on the front and two of another brand at the rear..? I know that three Falkens and one odd one will cause peculiar handling so won't be doing that .

2) Has anyone got experience of Colway winter tyres..? I know they're remoulds and cheap as chips, but these are winter jobbies only. Plus, if Colway are suppliers of tyres to various rallying outfits, surely they're good enough as winter boots for me...? Anyone tried them out on anything..?

Cheers,
Nige.

I'd be interested in this too - I've got REO40's, 2 of which are OK and 2 need changing. I want to change to T1-R's, so can I put 2 new Toyos on the front and keep the two Bridgestones on the rear, or will this screw up the handling?
Do I need to replace all 4?

Thanks,

Clive
