Question Are 235/45 r17's Likely to rub?

I have bought a new set of rims for a MY02 WRX for trackday use only (thanks Julian @ Rarerims )

The only tyres I can get here are Toyo R888's in a 235/45 R17, ideally I would like 225/45 R17 (i.e. STi standard size) but these would not be available for at least a month in Dubai

Does anybody have any idea if I am likely to experience tyre/bodywork interface?

I can probably trial fit one tyre, but I doubt the dealer will be happy with me driving on it to see if there is any rubbing!

Apparantly these have been fitted to a number of Evo's on the same size rims with no issues, but as we all know Evo's and Scoobies are not the same!

I think they will rub. Certainly in the case of an 18" wheel they do. For my 53 plate WRX the 235/40/18's were not suitable becasue of rubbing . They can however be fitted to MY05 cars. Also if the wheel is a 17x7" 235's are a bit excessive and will, IMHO, be a poor fit.

You'll need the 215 or 225 45 17s if you can get them Neil.

I know what my preference is, but I can't get them for a month!

The rims are 7.5J ET48, so fit within the recommended fitment range of the 235/45 R888 according to the Toyo web site. These were specifically ordered as they are ideal for the 225/45 which my supplier had promised he had in stock (lying git )

According to some of the web calculators the tyre will extend in by approx 1.2cm, I'll measure the clearance and see how close it will be.

Thanks for the help so far!!!!
