Default Tyres ..... why not??

Why not use 205 55 Z16 instead of 205 50 Z16??

The 55's are HALF the price!!!

As long as the load rating is ok, go for it

Your speedometer will underead by 3.35% if your that bothered about speeding (in addition or subraction to its current inaccuracy )

I'm aware that the speedo would show a slight error, but I can live with that.

I was more interested in why the 50's are twice the price? I'm guessing its about supply/demand?

Tut tut Pete I'm ashamed of you, deviating from manufacturers specifications. Subaru spend millions in R&D designing the Impreza, figuring out the optimum tyre size to fit. Always stick to the recommendations!

Anyway Subaru spec is for 205/50 VR 16 so why are you fitting Z rated tyres. Overkill. Honestly next thing you'll be buying oil at £10 / litre.

Hope you are going to tell your insurance company if you fit non standard tyres.

I bet your tyres have perished, eh Pete? No danger of them wearing out normally with your driving style!
