Comprehensive Tyre Surveys...
Thought this may be of interest to peeps looking for the next set of shoes for the old girl.
Apologies if it's been done to death already but I hadn't come across it previously
Our survey said... most of the usuals listed including some alternatives

Looks like the Eagle F1 GS-D3 come out top - BUT - if you sort the catagories its the Pilot Sport PS2 which are consistently 2nd or 3rd, the Eagle F1 GS-D3 come all over the place - 'Steering response it comes 9th', 'dry traction' comes in 5th.
Was unsure about whether to go Eagle F1 GS-D3 or Pilot Sport PS2, may go for the Pilot Sport PS2 now?

My next set of tyres will be Michelin Pilot Sport PS2's ... assuming the original Pirelli Nero Zero's ever wear out!! 24k and still 5mm tread left all round

Michelin Pilot Sport PS2's---: £161
Pirelli P Zero Nero's--------: £141
Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3's-: £116
(*Prices taken from mytyres.co.uk for 235/40/18 tyre)
Given the tyres are your only point of contact with the road (unless things are going worryingly wrong) £45 per tyre is not a significant difference given most people seem quite content to spend £600-£1000+ to speed up their Scoob.
I appreciate there are those on a budget, but given the choice I'd rather have the best tyres and forego the dumpvalve and its extra 30bhp
Just my 2p

I recently returned some tyres to the reseller (Dunlop SP Sport FM901) when I found out that they weren't even meant to be sold in this country. The Tyre Doctor at Dunlop (see Drivers Know website) said that they were tyres made by Sumitomo in Japan under licence to Dunlop and in fact were R&D'd for the American market. Therefore the different climatic conditions made for different tyre requierments to that of the European market.
Just some thoughts.
