Brake wobble

Brake wobble
Just checking if anyone has the same "problem" or if anyone knows what it is. Car is an 03 sti.
Basically if I hit the breaks when I am going fast - (living in Gibraltar and drving in Spain a lot where you can easily cruise at 100mph) I get a really bad shudder and wobble coming through the steering - break pads were changed about 4-5k miles ago so don't think it's anything to do with them. Anyone any ideas?
Thanks
Mark

Sounds like the discs could be warped but being new to scooby ownership I could also be very wrong. Can you get the runout of the discs checked anywhere locally?

Discs, pretty sure of it. If they look in good nick they could probably be skimmed or try taking them off, giving them a good rub down with some emery cloth and then clean them up. It sounds like there is excess material from your new pads on the discs, usually caused by holding your foot on the brakes when they're too hot.

Other than whats been said.
Check out all bushes, steering and suspension if you are braking hard all the components front end get loaded up most can feedback via steering wheel.

BEWARE though: if you have a look yourself, you'll see it "run out" due to build up of crap on the edge of the disc, or the lip where it's worn/not worn.
Proper run out is measured from the edge of the worn area. You can do it if you have dial gauge.
