Default Anybody Got Kumho KU15 or KU31?

Going to need a set of 215/40/17 for a set of wheels i've just bought.

Went down to the local independant tyre guy and had a chat about all the options, he stocks pretty much everything so it's not as though he's just trying to push one brand but he recons that of all the tyres out there these among the best.

Just wondered if anyone has tried them on a Scoob yet?

I've got KU15
Soft sidewalls, good dry grip but not very stable and dodgy on damp surface (much worse than RE070). I don't like them.

Any more views on the KU15?

I don't usually like cheap tyres, but as these are branded "trackday tyres" I thought they may be worth further investigation.

Haven't tried the KU31 so cant make any comments on that one, but the KU15 is actually very good as a cheap (I get 4 for about £270 in 215/45/17) track-day tyre. Good dry grip, responsive steering, long lasting and doesn't overheat easily on track.
Not bad when wet, but doesn't like cold weather much, and needs caution till you get some heat into them...
Not the tyre I would recommend as a day to day UK tyre, but for that second set of track wheels it is spot on!!!

I also used the Ecsta MX (KU 15) on road and track. Would recommend but maybe not superb in wet conditions, but certainly useable. Will describe this tire as semi trackday.

I was speaking to a guy who has runs 964rs on the ring, and he says for the money they make a great track tyre, just not great in the wet.

For the price of £250 (my front need replacing and costs that much alone) for a set for my car, I'm going to have some

215 45 17
255 40 17

Anyone want to buy some hardly used Bridgestone S03 255 40 17

Dave, where you getting these from as I am considering a set for my car? (225/40/18)

For track day I would rather recommend V70A ( hard )

I'd recommend Michelin Pilot Sport cups way above them

BUT this is about a grippy, inexpensive, hard wearing tyre that will work on the Nurburgring/track.

£250 a set of Kumhos (that promise to be somewhere between a regular street tyre and R rated), over £600 if I want the ultimate grip (MPSC). The difference is more than half a jahreskarte!

Until they hand out prizes for going fast on trackdays/TF then I'll be doing it on a budget
