Question What does "XL" mean on tyres?

Hi

I'm looking for a new set of tyres to replace the PZero Neros on my WR1. I'm considering either Toyo T1Rs or Eagle F1 GSD3s. Checking the Goodyear site, there is an "XL" next to my tyre size of 225x40x18. What does this mean please?

I went for the GSD3 XL's this time - I had normal GSD3's last time. I felt that the car had the odd nervous twitch with bumps and letting power off in corners. Others on here have noticed the same, and suggested it was the soft sidewall in the F1's.

The XL version have stiffer sidewalls, actually meant for a heavier car, but they appear to have removed the oddness that mine had, now I've a new set.
