Anyone ever run Formula 2 tyres on track?
Its for my track Pug rather than the scoob.
Having been to a tarmac rally recently where most of the 205 boys were running formula 2 tyres. I know these are remoulds but they swore by them for good grip / reasonable durability for half the price of Yoko / dunlop / toyo etc.
Anyone had any experience with them on track? I spoke to the techy guy a while back and he wasnt sure how they would fair at the 'ring', just wondered if any of you have ever tried them? Really dont wanna spend £100 a corner on something im gonna kill pretty quickly.
I currently run A539's at about £40 a corner and I can get the Formula 2's for about the same ........

One thing to consider is that rally tyres tend to be available in softer compounds than track slicks. I found this out at Croft last year when I took some Yokohamas down to the canvas. Made for intresting handling......

I also have a track day 205 Mi16. I tried a set of these (Colway F2 right?). They are not suited to race tracks, the first couple of laps were ok but after that they didn't perform well. A comparison with yoko A520's showed just how bad these colways were. I now run Dunlop slicks which are just the job. For your circumstance i would go for Dunlop formula R or the yokos you already mentioned.

Cheers normski thats what i needed to hear.
Just got a deal on a set of A539's at £36 each.
that will do for me, three sets for the price of one set of cut slicks. Good value for money me thinks.

I too used colway F2 tyres on my 1.9 pug rally car, they were fine esp when i half cut a rallyx pattern into them.
I have a pair of brand new ones (never been on car) on 1.9 gti rims for sale at the moment as well as a load (well 6 or 8) of TB style colways some on rims some not most have done a couple of stages thats all.
Sold the car, saw it at croft the other week, seems most of the decent bits have been removed
