They are the right size for 18's and indeed what tyre shops recommend for any classic with 18's unless you've got the wider arches of the 22B.

Pirelli's however are not my tyre of choice to be honest, they're a little to slippy in the wet for my liking. Toyo's or Goodyears are a better all round tyre (the new T1-R Toyo tyre looks to be getting some good reviews and I know a few people who've got them already and are raving)

I've got the 18" rims with the same tyre size on too. I was told that they're not an incorrect tyre size but just not the normal size! I was advised to put 225/35/18 on next time.....fortunately they've not worn out yet!!

18" P1 upgrade alloys came with 225/35/18 from the dealer.

would imagine prodrive know their stuff, so stick with that size IMHO

yep, I've 225/35/18's fitted to OZ P-WRC1 alloys on my RB5.

Problem with 215 is that a) they can be stretched a bit too much on wide alloys or b) with a 35 profile it's like running rubber bands

Be careful with tyre makes on the 225/35/18's - Pirelli are fine with that width, but there are quite a few manufactures tyres with reinforced sidewalls that will rub on your arches with having the 225 profile instead of the 215.

True. Had to roll my arches to cope with the Yoko Avs 225/35/18's (but that is the correct tyre size)

Mine's fine normally but I think the rear arch rubbers or liners have rubbed in the past. The OSR one is distorted and 'droops' the NSR one is slightly distorted. Distortion is near the top of the wheelarch.

The car is currently on F1 GSD3s in 225/35x18.

30mm just sounded more appealing than 21mm ?

What do you think?
Smaller diameter wheels/tyres will make the car lower to the ground, however they will not fill the arches as much as the larger diameter ones so may actually make the car look higher (larger gap between the tyre and wheel arch).

Anyway, don't fit the wrong tyres because you think it will increase the ride height . Fit the correct size tyres!

I think you'll find;

225/40 18 - 318.6mm.

What's more important than looks is the rolling circ. and hence the gearing of the car (which is why the speedo would be out. Although most over-read anyhow).

The reason 40 profile is recommended over 35 is probably to do with availability/cost and handling charictaristics (sp?).
