Question Seriously Confused

I now have very nearly 55,000miles on my Impreza Turbo MY00 Wagon and am STILL on the original pads and discs.

Last year, at 45,000miles I was told that I would have to replace them soon by the Subaru garage (who thought they were my second set at least and therefore should replace the discs too).

Due to the stupid price of Subaru Parts I said I would sort it myself.

The pads have not started squealing yet so I have just waited and waited and waited and waited ...................... had a service last week and again the Subaru garage said that they will need replacing 'soon'.

100,000miles is common for me on 'normal' cars, so I suppose I'm just a highly skilled driver that reads the road like a veteran?

Can I apply for the Hall of Fame?

no you old skinflint...

i got 116,000 from my fronts and i reckon i could have got another couple of thousand from them, but they had started to wear unevenly..

they were that low that the warning light on the dash tripped on..

when i replaced them, the brake res went from just below half full to right on the lip of overflowing!!!

116,000 i,m the winner!!!!

Pete,
Just for the record, seeing as you're so old, did anyone ever point out that the throttle's the one on the right, and the brakes in the middle, cos on the old car thats in my garage, they're the other way around, and I reckon that might account for you're lack of brake pad usage!!!
