Tyre size advice / help...
Excuse what may seem a lame question.. and I have read through most of the tyre posts and cannot find the info I need.
Yesterday I had a full service and brake pads (EBC - what a difference !) done, all went well apart from noticing some very sad wheel alignment ! As a result on the inside edges it is so badly worn that it is almost through ! So no options but to get new tyres and in a hurry ! It has Michelins on them but I was never impressed with them at all, I had Pirellis on my last scoob and liked them a lot better but seems the F1 is the one to go for at the mo.. will soon find out.
I have a 2001 WRX and have decided I will go for either the F1s or the Pirelli Neros (what ever of the 2 I can get as I need them fast) question is the tyre size. I have 215/45/17 at the moment and have seen various different sizes mentioned in other threads... like 215/40 etc... What is the best option to go for with size that does not mess up correct speedo readings etc ?
Also someone said to do a few miles with new tyres on before getting wheels re-aligned, is this good practise as i had never done this before ?
As you can guess I am new here and this forum has impressed me with so many willing to help out others... a nice spirit indeed...
Any help much appreciated,
Cheers

if you go for 40's then you need wider ie 225.
best stick to 215/45s if you can
on my classic i went from 205/45 to 215/40 and cant notice as i lowered the profile but widened them
