Default Toyo Proxes R888's????

Has anyone fitted a set of these yet?
I was thinking about fitting some but am a little worried about our weather, do they perform in the wet?

Am toying with the idea of fitting a set to the track car so will let you know- I'm not relying on them being of any use in the wet though

Dont expect any sort of wet grip and you'll be OK (not tried them, just looking at the tread).

Yeah I've been thinking about them as well, but the resounding response has been not to get them for the roads really (in this country anyway). They're a little lethal with spit on the road

To be honest though they are a track tyre that is road legal, and can be used to / from track.

I really don't think that they are designed to be an everyday road tyre.

I heard somewhere that they are surprisingly good in the wet. It was an added bonus that Toyo got that they didn't really design for. They are obviously a fairly soft compound which helps.

Like most track day tyres, they will probably be fine in the wet. Its just standing water that they won't like.

Probably not best to get some at this time of the year though

Dave.

With our weather we'll get 3 days use from them in that case
I may wait till my current Proxies need replacing, hopefully in time for the 3 days of summer next year

The R888s are like the Yoko A-048s, good enough in the wet, but not the best. A few people are using them on westfields etc (15").

I hope this answers your questions. I had a set fitted for a track day at Mallory Park last Sunday. The first session which was wet, I spun the car. In the afternoon when the track was not so wet the car handled great and stopped impressively.
On the way to the track the car was under steering in the wet conditions, pushing on a bit. They were not dangerous. I wouldn’t recommend the Toyo R888 tyres in our winter as every day tyres, but saying that I can’t wait for the summer, when I’ll put them back on the car.

Also there are a limited number of size options, so look at the Toyo website for the available sizes.

I currently have a set of Yoko A032-R tyres, and they are the best tyre I've had in the wet bar none. Even with standing water about they are much better than I expected.

This is down to the soft compound, and I would be surprised if the toyos are much different. I intend to run the car on such tyres all the time, as normal tyres no longer cut it (wheel spin in 3rd in the dry).
