Angry One set of pads for one set of discs!!!

Just had my 30K service and been told at next will need pads and discs all round!! ...these are original discs and pads from new! I do plenty of motorway miles (hence just swapped tyres also) but surely the discs shouldn't wear as fast as pads??

30k for a set of disks and pads, now that would be nice

Stop complaining but don't get the dealer to do it or it will cost you a fortune

Dave.

Seems odd for discs to wear as fast as pads... No comments on corrosion on the discs or other reasons for disc replacement? If you're concerned, I'd get them checked by a non-subaru-franchise specialist. A year ago I took my MY00 to a franchised dealer who said all discs and pads needed replacing at the next service. I don't do a huge number of miles per year, and two services later (one year and 8K miles on) the local specialist I now use noted that they will need doing at the NEXT service... Make of that what you will!

When my front disks needed doing (@ 44k) they said they would not replace disks without pads! Quoted around 250 plus vat! Bought some disks myself, fitted them and kept same pads (DS2500). Cost me less then 100 in the end.

i would get a 2nd opinion on the rears needing doing mate, the fronts fair enough for 30k.
even my robbing git of a dealer confesses to only having needed to change no more than about a dozen rear discs/pads in all the years of servicing. apparently they do so little work that they last forever?

this was on a classic though, might be different on new shapes.

Had the same problem with a main dealer - they told me that my pads were gone and that my discs had a large lip - wanted £300+ to change them. Took it to a non-Subaru franchised dealer for its MOT a few weeks later, and was told that the discs and pads were only 50-60% worn!!!

Get some else to check them out mate. You may be suprised at the answer you get
