Default new shape wheels fit classic?

Is there any problems with fitting new shape 17inch wheels on 1999 classic shape? Is the off-set the same?

01/02/03/04 wheels will fit classics, ideally with 215/40 17's, but a lot of people get on ok with 215/45 17's.
