Unhappy I Wheely wheely need help! - What alloys for '99 Classic?

I am hoping I can get help right now, for 2 reasons:

1) I want a set of 18" alloys to fit my '99 Classic and am finding it so hard to find a) a nice wheel design b) a decent place to buy them from

2) MY car is red, so I aint a big fan of gold alloys on a red car and I have no real idea what offset I need even after trying to find out on the net, and what size am I limited to?

If ANYBODY can offer their advice or expertise on this I would really appreciate it, or does anyone have piccies of their classic with a nice set of 18's on so I can get some inspiration.

Oh and if you know any good places on the net I can find a dealer to buy from, even better! If anyone is selling a set plz let me know.

K, I said enuff... thnx in advance

Ok, after seeing a classic on ebay with these on I am fancy the BK 299 Silver 18"

I have found plenty of online stores who also sell them, so that shouldnt be a problem.

All I could do with now is help on the tyre sizing...

What should I go for on a Classic?
I see most posts say: 215/40/18, is this correct?

and In your opinion, which colour would you go for on a Red classic out of:
1) Chrome
2) Silver rim, Gold insert
3) Silver
4) Hi Power Black

Thanks again for any thoughts or feedback.

It looks as tho 215/35/18 is going to be the right solution from what I can see.
Will speak to some stores tmrw about them I reckon.

If anyone knows a reputable store for buying a full set of alloys and tyres please let me know.

Im running 18" P1 with offset at ET53
From what I can remember the bk299 have a offset of et50 & et48 depending on which colour choice you go for. I think the et48 might need a spacer & slighty longer studs for fitting, better to check with the supplier.
My choice of tyre would be 215/35/18 with eibach springs (no tyre scrub on rear arches)

Bugger, now I am torn again.

Between:
Leg-Silver - Super Leggera Silver Wheel Package @ Edworthy's

Or the BK299 Package at Topgear...

Dam the choices!!

If it were you guys, putting them on a mica red classic, what woud you go for out of those two designs, both will be 18" either way.
And thanks to ticky's recommendation I will also buy eibachs set.

It is gonna have to be the Leggera, the missus likes them too.

Ok, so I know what wheels and tyres, even if I cant get a callback from a dealer.
Lastly, how much do I want to be lowering by before I will be rubbing rubber on arch?

I see most kits drop it by 35mm, is this right, as some say only 30mm should be attempted on 18's?

Ta. I will stop asking soon, honest.

Your the only one who can decide, well as long as the missus agrees that is

I found both edworthy and Topgear very keen prices and knew there stuff.

You ought to consider the Prodrive Springs, not much difference in Price but I rate them better then get someone renonowned like TSL or Powerstation to name just two

Consider the weight as a factor too when deciding - the lower the better. NO gold for you unf...

D
215/40/17 on battered Oz superturismos - all new Goodyear Eagle F1 tyres today. That tyre calc link says they are too small

PS it'll ride and handle better on 17"

i have always been a looks man tho myself.

MY mates have M3's and Audi RS6's etc, so I am gonna be left for dead either way at the mo, till I can start playing with the engine, I just prefer to work on the looks first as mica red looks very bland standard...

Gonna get alloys, lowered and then book into Scoobyclinic for colour coding.
Then I can get going on the engine.
That's my reasoning for the 18's, looks over drivability, I dont drive it any where near as hard as it should be, but it is always a sparkling clean bugger!

Thanks for info again, top advice. will look at prodrive springs tomorrow.
Never did get a call back today, so will have to call them and order wheels tmrw.

Bighead - Sorry mate am set on Legerra's now.

Sweet Leggera's ordered!
But the dealer dont supply Eibach's, so got to find a competitive supplier for them now.

Any suggestions?

Yes they are mate.
Why you ask?
Is there another brand of the same name?

No its me, wasn't sure of the leggara's.
I know which ones your going for now, nice wheels.

I would have gone for oz leggara's too. The BK299 are nice but I didn't like there centre caps?

I was just luckly that I couldnt make my mind up then along came some 2nd 18" P1 rims.
