Default What is RB5 original tyre size??

As per title....

My friend has just bought an RB5 but the back tyres are catching the arches when you go over bumps etc. Its not even lowered!!

At present it has 215 / 45 R 17.....should they not be 205 / 45 ???

Original's were 205/45/17 Pirelli P-Zero Assimetrico's.

He should run this size or 215/40/17. After my original set, I swapped to the 215/40's and have never experienced any rubbing with my car in 5 years of ownership.

The width isn't a problem as long as the profile is a good percentage.

My car is lowered 20mm with Eibach springs too.

I casn't understand why they are rubbing, because I know some people run 215's on a classic with no bother!! I think they are Bridgestone that are on it, which have a very "vertical" flat sidewall, which might not help the fact, but even at that, I still can't understand it!!

Maybe the original dampers/springs are starting to sag or just not coping with the bumps anymore.

I'm even running 225/35/18 on a Oz P-WRC1 wheel now and still don't get any rubbing, even with the car on full suspension travel after some big humps & dips.

It's the '45' bit thats the problem, they should be 40's as already said, some get away with 45's, others don't!
