Cool Bridgestone Tyres

The 2 front tyres on my 2003 WRX need replacing - they are Bridgetone 215/45 R17s. They seem to have been OK but I'd be interested to hear of any alternative tyres I could use. I'm looking for an all round tyre - some motorway, some fast A road etc and some around town - with reasonable tread life. The Bridgestones have done 17,000 miles which I think is pretty good.

Did you have problems with tramlining on your bridgetons? On my MY01 WRX, I still have the bridgetons on the front but dealer put Goodyear F1's on the back when I purchased at end of Feb04. Thing is, the car seems all floaty at the front when the road camber/surface is not good - but I have read on previous threads that bridgetons are considered subject to tramlining. You have probably read elsewhere that it's never a good idea to mix tyre types on any car, esp. Imprezas, so I am considering changing the fronts also to Goodyear F1's. Maybe the less than inspiring front handling on my car is caused by two different tyre types each with very different tread patterns. If you can only afford two, stick with two more bridgetons. Also, apparently you should not a mix of old and new tyres with more than a 3mm difference in tread on a 4WD vehicle.

In general, lot's of people on Scoobynet feel that the Goodyears are the best. Good prices for Goodyear F1 fully fitted around £100 per wheel - through Black Circles website - they have local fitting centres. Phone number is 0845 200 0022. They do a wide range.
