Default What's the catch with MYTyres?

Have just been looking at Toyos for my classic on 17"s

Elite quote a price of £94 per tyre fitted,

MYTyres are doing them delivered for £75 posted.

What's the catch? How much is a tyre fitter going to sting me to get them fitted?

Anyone used them before? Reccomendations????

Cheers
Dave

Lots of people on here have used them and seem happy to recommend them. A local place like National might charge £8 per corner for fitting, balancing, valves & disposal of your old tyres.

I use them quite regularly, as most of my family now do.

Local tyre place charges me £20 cash in hand to fit the tyres.

Wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.

Good service for me too - Goodyear F1 225/40/18s delivered to my door within a week for £114 each. Cost me about £50 to have them fitted at the local tyre place. No catch as far as I can see, just good prices and good service (the AA wanted £200 each plus delivery for the same tyre).

If anyone wants the Goodyear F1's in the North-West, there's a place on the Wirral who are doing a good price - £122inc VAT & Fitting each for 225/40/18's

No catch, tyres are usually imported from abroad. No shop, no middleman, just cheap tyres. Fitting varies alot, shop around.

I just used them and would recommend them got my 18" Toyos for £88 each .

I was a little worried about uses them to start with, after I got ripped off by Crossroads garage when I tried buting cheap tyres from them, but I had heard good things on here so took a chance.

Took 7 days from order to delivery. Got them fitted by the company that supplied the new wheels aswell.

Very pleased with the result, just need to put larger brakes on as they look small behind the 18's.

No catch that I'm aware of. Apart from delivery costs to far flung places - like IOW/IOM & Highlands. My Toyos took a week to arrive.

My local place wants £14 per wheelto fit. I'm going to have to negociate They'll not be disposing of the old tyres - so there's no excuse there. (They make good plant pots and stuff )

Used them plenty of times - had to wait a couple of weeks once for a set of tyres but they are cheap so I didnt mind, I have also ordered tyres from them and they have turned up within a couple of days I would recommend them

Thumbs up

We just received a set of Yokohamas from them yesterday. When I spoke to the garage this morning they will fit them for £10 per wheel which i think isn't bad.
Definately alot cheaper than going to a garage to buy them as I got quoted £160 per wheel from them and bought them off of the internet for £76 per wheel!

How long did it take to get confirmation from MyTyres.
I ordered this morning but got a mail back questioning my address.

I emailed them the details again, but have had no reply and the phone seems to be permenantly engaged.

AFAIK, they always question the address. I got a phone call from them to confirm the invoice and delivery addresses.

I'm a bit happier now as I manged to get the website to send me a password to track the order.
Using this has shown that the order has been processed this morning and the request to the wharehouse has been made for delivery.

Ozzy, have yours arrived yet and how long did they take ?

I *think* I ordered them last Thursday (late afternoon). They haven't arrived yet, although my wheels never arrived until Tuesday even when I arranged delivery from Wilson's Subaru last Thursday too.

So, if they don't arrive today it'll be over 7 days including a bank holiday weekend.

and
http://www.dpd.de/www_de/g-_idx_n1_c1_l7_lme.html

Well, contacted them today and there's been some screw-up with my order. Warehouse has no record, so they've had to re-order the *******

If the warehouse is in Glasgow I could go and collect the damn things rather than waiting until next week.

Only one catch with mytyres.net and thats the fact that it can be very difficult to get Toyo tyres during the winter months. I've tried before in January and was told they were out of stock and wouldn't get any more until at least March. This is because they work off the German tyre market and don't sell summer tyres during winter.

Our local tyre fitting place can match mytyres, and fitting etc is free..

Alternativly if I brought tyres from mytyres they would fit, balance etc all 4 for a tenner

I was told today that they are getting shipped from their German warehouse, so should receive them in a day or so. They've been great apart from "losing" my order. Even after someone phoned me to confirm my addresses.

My new alloys are sitting just dying to get some rubber on them

I'm pretty fed up with them right now. I ordered 2 Toyos on Tuesday and the website quoted next day delivery if ordered before 12. I ordered around 15:00 so I expected them Thursday. Next day I get an email from them stating my address doesn't exist (yeah, right) so I call them up and the number is engaged all morning. I try the 0800 number on their website instead of the number quoted on their email and get the address confirmed.

They didn't turn up yesterday as expected and when I called them, they said they are due to be delivered on the 18th. They said delivery is 5 days, not next day as the website states and that they are having loads of complaints about that at the moment. I needed the tyres fitted today so my car is out of action for another week grrrr!!!

I'm busy arranging alternatives but it would seem that Toyos are quite hard to get hold of and nobody carries any stock I'm switching to GSD3s next time anyway as I have come to the conclusion that they are as good in performance terms, much harder wearing and only slightly more expensive. Much better VFM all round! Lack of availability of Toyos is another reason to switch IMHO.

As for MyTyres, I wouldn't bother and several tyre places I have spoken to have asked me if it is MyTyres when I tell them I have been let down.

I guess you get what you pay for!

Cheers,

Matt

Matt - you'll like the GSD3s - I swapped to them. Best tyre I've ever fitted, once they are scrubbed in (takes a few hundred miles). My Tyres supplied my Goodyears - I couldn't fault them. I had a confirmation email and a phone call to confirm the delivery address and they turned up on the day stated. (£114 each BTW)
